Days between dates
Count the days between two calendar dates, including neither extra day beyond the span you picked.
Short answer
The result is the absolute number of midnights between the two dates. Order does not matter. The same date is 0 days.
How this works
Each date is treated as a calendar day, not a clock time. The count is the number of 24-hour days between those UTC midnights, so a leap day in between is included and a time zone does not move the result.
If you need the count of nights in a hotel stay, decide whether the checkout morning counts. This tool counts the distance between the two dates you type, not a booking policy.
Examples
1 January 2024 to 1 March 2024
60 days. 2024 includes February 29, so January has 31 days left after the 1st and February has 29.
Common mistakes
- Adding one “to be inclusive” without deciding which endpoint the contract actually counts.
Frequently asked questions
- Does 31 February work?
- No. Impossible dates are rejected.
